Bio

New website.. New Bio .. Same Ole “BIG E.”..

I am a lifelong New Orleanian who would rather fight than split. I have three children Jamie, Jodi and Eric Michael. All of 'em are great kids.

I was raised by my Mama (a true saint).  I spent my early childhood in Mid City around the corner from the Gold Seal Creamery. I am the oldest of four; I have two brothers, Karl & Kevin, and a sister Karen. When I was 9 years old we moved Uptown. Webster and Magazine would never be the same. The circle of friends I made growing up in the New Orleans greatest neighborhood have been my "padners" for life. I played basketball in the New Orleans mens' leagues with my krewe for about 15 years until I reached 35. The "NIGHTRIDERS" ruled basketball leagues in this town in the 80's and early 90's (had to fit that in).

I made the move to The Parish, but hated the traffic (St Claude /Claiborne Bridge ARGGGH), but I loved the feeling of community.  After living in Chalmette for a few years we bought a house in Arabi. Our kids played at Carolyn Park playground and proudly went to St Bernard parish public schools which is an excellent public school system! The neighborhood was perfect for raising a family. Then came Katrina... "Nuff" said!  We are hanging in Metairie until further notice.

I guess you want to know about the radio thing.  Well, I did an internship in 1982 at WNOE working in the news department and tried to pick up a few things while working with The Mary Foster Sports Show.  One of my most memorable moments was when I got to interview the late Mayor “Dutch" Morial.  The NFL strike of 1982, left me without my newfound internship.  Needing a “REAL PAYCHECK," I took on several non-radio affiliated jobs.  In 2002 on a dare, I decided to get back into radio.  I kept telling everyone, "Hey, I can do sports talk better than those other guys!"  With the support of one of my lifelong friends, I contacted AM 1450 WBYU to inquire about a weekend show.  Jon Fine of Sports Gumbo got wind that "greatness" had entered the building and offered us a shot on air.  In August of 2003, after co-hosting Sports Gumbo for about a year, GM of AM 690 (WTIX), Dan Frazier, approached me about a nighttime sports show, and SportsWrap was born.  After about a year, the three hour nightly show turned into a two hour midday gig. Then the proverbial hurricane happened... Katrina.

I spent four months evacuated at a North Louisiana campground.  I got a phone call from GM Dan Frazier called once again looking for a midday news talk host for the all new AM 690 WIST.  Dan told me to get my thoughts together because I was going to host a show about CHANGE... changing the status quo!  On December of 2005 "Inside New Orleans" hit the airwaves.  My show reflects my personality with passion, truth, and an undying love for my city, NEW ORLEANS!  When you tune into "Inside New Orleans" I promise I will do my best to make sure you are informed and entertained.  You'll get raw emotion that is often imitated but never duplicated.  I pride myself on holding “leaders” accountable, working for reform and calling it like I see it no matter what the consequences.  I make it a personal goal to deliver the truth and keep my listeners posted on local politics, political figures, and all things New Orleans.

“FROM THE DOGCATCHER TO THE GOVERNOR THEY ALL HAVE TO GO!”

Oh yeah, the boss lets me talk a little sports on Saturday, so spread the word!  "Inside New Orleans" weekday's noon-3pm and "WIST Sports Saturday" 11-1pm.  I think that about covers it!  ARE YOU STILL THERE?
