Go Zone
Tax Credit Program
In 2005, following hurricane Katrina, the federal government established the Gulf Opportunity Benefits or "Go Zone" --a program offering tax and bond provisions to help rebuild the local and regional economies of communities impacted by Hurricane Katrina and Rita. For example, the "renewal community tax credit" incentive targets businesses relocating to an RC with large hiring needs.
What is Go Zone? Go Zone benefits those businesses impacted by Hurricane Katrina and Rita. Under Go Zone there are 14 different benefits which you can qualify for-- everything from helping owners rebuild to incentives for remediation and renovation to helping those who assisted employees with housing and employment.
Many business owners do not realize there are tax credits for hiring, housing, and retaining Katrina employees. All of these many incentives can be found at www.YourTaxClaim.com or you can call 504.658.4200
FBI Special Agent James Bernazzani is a regular on Eric's show. Monday, March 10th, they spoke of the following:
If I want to report a federal crime, who should I call? Ultimately an investigative agency like the FBI (504-816-3000)
Also to educate yourself on scams and so on, you can check www.ic3.gov for the latest.
Eric had Greta Perry on the show to talk about Soldiers Angels. You can find out all about it at their website: http://soldiersangelsla.org
Ferry Obvious

NOTES FROM NEW ORLEANS is a collection of articles published from a column of the same name on EURWeb.com, a Black entertainment industry news wire, which chronicles life on the ground in post-breaches New Orleans between September '05 and June '07. In this funny, gossipy, and emotional collection of stories, Deborah Cotton takes the gloves off about the political shenanigans of local and national leaders, race relations, dating in the disaster zone, collective post traumatic depression, and the unique combination of joys that still exist in New Orleans despite having suffered the worse disaster in the history of the United States. A Lufkin man and three of his friends have a potential Texas state record on their hands after capturing a gargantuan gator near Trinity. The 880-pound gator that measured 13 feet, 10 1/2 inches long.
Neither a Republican nor Democrat, Eric is a New Orleanian first and foremost. Never afraid to ask the tough questions and an advocate for reform in Louisiana, Eric keeps track of our politicians, holding them accountable for their actions.
A travesty in the making
While heaping piles of rubble still dot the New Orleans landscape, hundreds of perfectly restorable, historic homes are slated for demolition. It's been news to some owners of these homes. Make sure you're not on the list. Karen Gadbois and company are fighting an uphill battle that you should know about.
